Photographer Bill Owens skillfully captures Americana in his two series Suburbia and Leisure. The former, an early-1970s photo essay, features domestic scenes rendered with the full force of the era's garishness. The pieces in Owens' more recent Leisure focus on American pastimes like football games, trailer-park picnics, and swap meets, which appear as strange as they are hauntingly familiar.
