Nestled in the desert east of Los Angeles, the Salton Sea is an ecological disaster of escalating urgency. Chris Metzler and Jeff Springer's documentary depicts the decrepit man-made ocean's spirit — which is livelier and lovelier than most would expect. Narrated by the ironic, iconic John Waters, the film offers the standard reportage (environmental, political, etc.), but distinguishes itself with commentary from a hearty group of eccentrics who hope to save the ruined sea.
