Egyptian Theatre says…

Tonight finds eternal everyman James Stewart in two sublime, aw-shucks acts. Capra-corn informs the undeniably uplifting It's a Wonderful Life, with Stewart as an angel-aided mensch struggling against a tycoon and suicidal self-doubt. The Budapest-set Shop Around the Corner, meanwhile, contains that lithe Lubitsch touch, and Stewart and Margaret Sullavan as quarreling colleagues who are actually in anonymous-letter love.
