The elegant products of director Mitchell Leisen's urbane partnership with a pair of top-notch writers (the soon-to-be-famous Billy Wilder and Preston Sturges), classic farces Midnight and Easy Living are each rife with mistaken identities, screwball antics, and a series of hilariously conceived coincidences. Set in Paris, Midnight follows a magnetic Claudette Colbert as she deceives her way into the jet set with true love at her heels. In Cinderella-caper Easy Living, Jean Arthur plays a typist whose 9-to-5 lifestyle is whisked away when a $50,000 coat accidentally drops from the sky.
