The Silent Movie Theatre says…

In Ishiro Honda's 1968 all-star assembly of Japanese behemoths, Destroy All Monsters, 1999 is the doomed year for the scale-model demolition of major metropolises. Paris, Tokyo, Moscow, and New York become teeming targets for the kaiju after Kilaaks — evil aliens with an earthly agenda of total domination! — release them from the modestly named Monster Island, their United Nations-sanctioned holding cage off Japan's coast. A Technicolor wonder from Toho, the smashing superstars — including Godzilla, Mothra, Rodan, Gorosaurus, and Ghidorah — are comically captured in their low-budget and beastly glory. The gargantuas' mind-blowing mayhem is escapist entertainment to the nth degree, with ludicrous plot ploys providing a fantastic, for-all-the-marbles finish.
