The music of the Mediterranean encompasses a diverse cultural soundscape, from Arabic to klezmer, gypsy, and Eastern European. Balkan Beat Box draw on this eclectic array of influences and incorporate electronic sounds from trance to techno. The band is comprised of a core group of six musicians who are anchored by New York-based duo Ori Kaplan and Tamir Muskat. Echoes of Manu Chao, Matisyahu, and Gogol Bordello (Kaplan's former band) are discernible on stage, but the experience itself is a transcendent sum of each extraordinary part.
