Performing Arts: Spoken Word L.A. Voz presents A Tribute to Jose Montoya and Sonia Sanchez

Tonight at homegrown theatre center LATC, students, followers, and peers pay tribute to local legends Jose Montoya and Sonia Sanchez. Montoya cofounded the Rebel Chicano Art Front (later known as the Royal Chicano Air Force), an art collective internationally recognized for its mural and poster work and its synthesis of creativity and community activism. NEA award-winner Sanchez is a poet, mother, activist, professor, and international lecturer on black culture, women's liberation, peace, and racial justice. Four theatrical productions by Los Angeles youth inspired by the duo's work complete the evening, offering a taste of the next generation's creative energy.
