Performing Arts: Theatre Point Break Live!

A theatrical tongue-in-cheek homage to classic surfer-dude cinema, Point Break Live! hilariously rips apart Hollywood blockbusters and A-list bad acting. Hosted at kitschy downtown cocktail lounge Charlie O's, PBL! deconstructs the 1992 Kathryn Bigelow film about FBI agent/former college quarterback Johnny Utah (Keanu Reeves) and his infiltration of a surf gang headed up by the charismatic and slightly creepy Bodhi (Patrick Swayze). A series of memorable high-action scenes are even improvised onstage, including car chases, big-wave surfing, armed robbery, and two dramatic skydiving sequences. Audience interaction disclaimer: PBL! selects members of the audience to re-enact Reeves' painfully stiff performance.
