Folk-rocker Jay Brannan's biography tells of a life destined for showbiz. After ditching college and a degree "slightly more useful than aromatherapy," the Texan teen prodigy headed west to Palm Springs for a boyfriend he met over the Internet. Landing in LA, his Joni-meets-Morrissey style caught the ears of director John Cameron Mitchell, who placed Brannan in his Shortbus film and on its accompanying soundtrack. After an international tour, the talented tenor ties one on at the Troubadour tonight, performing cuts from his debut record.
