The Academy honors Douglas Kirkland's carefully composed photography with Freeze Frame, an exhibit of celebrity portraits riddled with familiar faces. Besides shooting spools of film for vintage magazines Look and Life, Kirkland found seamless photo ops on numerous movie sets. From his 1960s snapshots of Akira Kurosawa and Marilyn Monroe to his contemporary prints, this up-close collection highlights Kirkland's vast, varied oeuvre.
