There was a time when the 20th century seemed like an unimaginable and distant future. The Orange County Museum of Art presents 2,200 images from the turn of the last century that imagine possible futures. The curators weave the artifacts into the framework of four pictorial yarns, as spun by different suitors for the benefit of a young maiden. From science to magic, apocalypse to utopia, these antique visions make for a mix of art and science that puts the real world of today in extraordinary context.
