In the brief and forward-looking Sherlock Jr., Buster Keaton plays a would-be sleuth working as a projectionist. Naïve Keaton is naturally in love, but has fallen from his girl's graces after a crooked rival frames him for theft. Afterward, he dejectedly falls asleep at the projector, soon dreaming himself into reality as a detective onscreen. What ensues is a rollicking farce, toying with the artifices of cinema. Keaton's desperate search for redemption is made all the more comic by the steadfastness of his trademark deadpan expression. Accompanied by a live musician and preceded by congenial Keaton shorts, tonight's screening promises astonishing hilarity.
