Venice Rocks! That's the name of the newly christened hard-rock night going off Tuesday at the Air Conditioned Supper Club (or, as locals knowingly refer to it, the AC) in Venice Beach. This evening brings Ben Rothbard, a Santa Monica native, consummate lyricist, and acoustic troubadour who just might be induced to plug it in for the night. Turning up the volume are brazen classic-biker-rock trio Roses on Her Grave, with not one, but two hotshot singers, one of whom nostalgically rings of early, amped-up Joan Jett, with mind-blowing guitar chops for good measure. Rounding out the evening are the appropriately named Automatic Music Explosion, proving with power-chord-fried gusto why this weekday club night gets not only an exclamation point, but its own Trash & Vaudeville-clad pole dancers.
