Aero Theatre says…

When it comes to Mel Brooks, remember two golden rules: every archetype is an easy target, and anything resembling normalcy will collapse into absurdity. Blazing Saddles (1974) is a perfect introduction to the Brooks philosophy. Politically incorrect to a fault, this send-up of the Western, which Brooks co-wrote with Richard Pryor, turns the standard plot of a small town facing an encroaching railroad on its head. With a standout Cleavon Little as Sheriff Bart, Gene Wilder as his alcoholic assistant, and a finale that breaks through the fourth wall — literally — Blazing Saddles is a trendsetter that holds up. Accompanying it is the time-bending History of the World: Part I (1981), in which Brooks smashes the epic genre to pieces.
