This private-residence-turned-gallery's latest offering, Projection, interprets the titular concept both literally and figuratively in an ambitious multimedia group show. The works probe the idea of projection in terms of emotional and psychological dynamics, as well as light and image. Highlights include C. Finley's extreme pattern paintings that combine obscure romanticism with frenetic, futuristic codes; Christian Tedeschi's machine-age DIY sculptures splicing non-traditional materials and modern abstraction; and John Koller's seductive, slightly retro combines of glossy psychedelia and textured mixed-media collage elements. Linda Day compresses layers of pigment and resin to create sunny, inscrutable strata in the best finish-fetish tradition, and costume designer Swinda constructs an installation combining fabric, architecture, site-specific spatial constructs, and atmospheric melodrama.
