Known for haunting images that envelop the viewer in an uneasy haze, Rocky Schenck finds beauty in rural landscapes and unremarkable interiors. Using Los Angeles as his muse and subject matter, he channels the uneasy grace and mystery of Poe with hand-tinted, soft-focus images that would have been at home in the photo salons of the early 20th century — while showing his contemporary roots by straddling the boundary between fear and intrigue, technology and romance.
