Forum Gallery usually sets the gold standard for classical figurative painting, exhibiting works ranging from the creamy, high-res romanticism of Steven Assael to the visceral, provocative canvases of Odd Nerdrum. Now, the Forum plants its flag atop the sculptural heap with this mammoth survey of seminal works from the first half of the 20th century. Here, abstraction and representation, nature and industry duke it out, with a distinctly modern aesthetic emerging. Of special interest is the installation Structure, which includes rarely exhibited pieces by Charles Biederman, Ilya Bolotowsky, Eli Bornstein, Sidney Gordin, and Nikolai Kasak.
