Individual series and a set of collaborative works from prodigal SoCal tattoo artists Regino Gonzales and Henry Lewis showcase the profound and eclectic influences and expressive forms between painting, illustration, and skin art. While Lewis demonstrates a noirish, punk-infused Renaissance sensibility in his richly rendered and darkly romantic works, Gonzales shows a predilection for cheeky retro-pop and tribal symbolism with a light-handed approach to line-drawing and a classic, refined palette. When they work together, anything goes, but expect beauty, metaphor, and, of course, the unexpected.
