The empowered female subjects of Karen Liebowitz's paintings exist in a fantasyland encompassing mythology, religious tales, and the contemporary world. For this collection — Liebowitz's first at Rosamund Felsen's venerable Bergamot Station gallery — her lush, skillfully rendered paintings explore the vast spiritual and sexual implications of the biblical Leviathan, a gargantuan sea monster.
