Film Golden Globe Foreign-Language Nominee Series

The Aero's four-night bill of Golden Globe foreign-language nominees begins with The Kite Runner, which negotiates decades, continents, and languages in a tale of deliverance. Julian Schnabel's The Diving Bell and the Butterfly, meanwhile, tells the strange, beautiful story of Jean-Dominique Bauby, paralyzed save for one eye. Next, Ang Lee's erotic Lust, Caution documents an assassination plot in Japanese-occupied Shanghai. The film version of Marjane Satrapi's brilliant black-and-white graphic novel Persepolis is a coming-of-age account of Iran's Islamic revolution, while Cristian Mungiu's 4 Months, 3 Weeks, and 2 Days is a lurid abortion tale set during the final days of the Romanian communist regime.
