Sure, you could brand her Winehouse redux, but it's better to think of Duffy as just another student of Stax soul (Amy didn't invent it, after all). In any case, her tunes are at once grittier and more pristine than the rehab queen's smooth numbers, with a classy, old-school urban attitude. The Welsh-born singer's debut, Rockferry — already a chart-topper in the UK, with a blazing hit single ("Mercy") to match — dropped in the US last spring. Whether or not it's pushed her out of her drug-addled peer's shadow, one thing's for sure: Amy 2.0 packs a vastly superior set of pipes.
