High Places' free-associative clatter recalls the odd robo-poetry of spam email, but painted pink. The Brooklyn calypso deconstructionists relish digital static and neon rumble, laying languid, beachside melodies atop shimmering bells and low-bit percussion. Tonight, the twosome celebrates the release of its self-titled debut on electro-indie institution Thrill Jockey with a special LA stopover. It's a dizzying release, to be sure, but the group's glittering tunes and engaging stage antics are perfectly suited to the Smell, one of the city's most adventurous and inviting performance spaces.
