In 2000, Maura Davis was just a Virginian sister going to ask her songwriter brother, Keeley (of a band called Engine Down), for help with some songs of her own. As it turned out, her voice had a sadness and grace that lent itself perfectly to the stage: it was then that Denali's trip-hoppy version of space rock was born. Sadly, after two LPs, the band called it quits. The good news: blood is thicker than booze, and they're back for a reunion tour after a warm reception in their native Richmond.
