Art: Architecture/Design Eddy Sykes: Yakuza Lou

First, there were robot maids, robot pets, and robot vacuums. Now, there are robot gardens. The technical specifications for Materials & Applications' latest installation are as charming as poetry, if a bit over the head of the average non-nanophysicist. But for those curious about the future of green design, the origami-inspired living fun house proposed by guest architect Eddy Sykes has the right spirit, even if it seems to defy logic. A self-arranging system of grass-growing plates and artificial clouds, Yakuza Lou is half magical fort, half sustainable development.
