Poetry slams meet YouTube at LA's newest competitive-storytelling monthly, Digital Cabaret. For its second-ever installment, the show's organizers are already taking stock, assigning this edition a "Perspective" theme. (Next month's is "Masquerade," and the bookers are looking for magicians.) Here's how it works: get there on time, sign up for a slot, and before you know it, your original, topical video short is screened for an increasingly intoxicated panel of judges partly pulled from the audience. Adding to the entertainment value is a local musical guest; this month, it's soulful, drum-loving Kid Gloves.
