With Catskills-bred manners, feel-good refrains, and the occasional harmonica interlude, the Felice Brothers claim they "sound like a barn smells." Some critics contend that the group's reverence for Dylan and the Band leads it dangerously close to mimicry, but there's no doubt that the outfit's songs go down easy with a couple of beers. Tonight, alt-country renegades Deer Tick kick things off, layering their own intoxicating brand of Americana atop an already down-to-earth bill. A sleeper hit if ever there was one, the band's debut, War Elephant, marries the lilting, old-school country croons of Hank Williams and Patsy Cline to the off-kilter guitar buzz of indie Americana.
