Despite the sudden passing of key member Adam Nodelman, psychedelic noise-rock collective Sunburned Hand of the Man march on. They continue to unleash crunched-up pentatonic riffs, ear-shredding feedback, and trance-inducing dissonance while collaborating with members of the avant-garde intelligentsia — free-jazz saxophonist Paul Flaherty, drummer Chris Corsano, the ubiquitous Thurston Moore, and members of No-Neck Blues Band, to name a few. The Massachusetts-based outfit is capable of coherent rock grooves, but they invariably let cohesive passages devolve into spastic, unrelenting chaos; members who find themselves behind a microphone yelp and screech like crazed snakehandlers speaking in tongues.
