The Edison says…

Architect Andrew Meieran's redesign of the Edison, a lounge built in what was Downtown LA's first private power plant, is a spectacular testament to adaptive reuse. And its bounty of original features complements the screening of some of Disney's infrequently seen gems during the opening-night program. Highlights include Steamboat Willie (Mickey's 1928 debut), Mickey's Birthday Party (1942), Fantasia 2000 (1999), and Destino, a 1945 collaboration between Walt Disney and Salvador Dalí that wasn't released until 2003. Roy E. Disney is on hand tonight to receive the Jules Verne Nature Award, and the series continues all weekend with screening programs both at the Edison and the nearby Imaginasian Center.
