LATC's Face of the World Festival presents a rarefied dance experience as it celebrates the 100th birthday of icon José Limón. Disenchanted with what he saw as the limits of visual art, Limón immersed himself in movement, honing his craft under Doris Humphrey and Charles Weidman. Limón created his company in 1946 in partnership with Humphrey, who served as artistic director to Limón's founder. Together, they established the stylistic principles that became the highly influential Limón technique, which is still studied to this day. The festival features performances of Limón's signature work, The Moor's Pavane, and Humphrey's Lament for Ignacio.
