In the wake of Shearwater's critically acclaimed new record, Rook, Okkervil River member and ornithology expert Jonathan Meiburg recently announced plans to quit the latter band in order to focus more energy on his former side project. This shouldn't surprise anyone that's heard the album: its lush, Talk Talk-influenced songs prove that Shearwater are poised to become bigger than the band that birthed them. Tonight, Meiburg and company trot out a variety of instruments, leveling their relatively quiet orchestrations.
