DJ Spooky
Wednesday Oct 29, 2008 (6pm)

As DJ Spooky, That Subliminal Kid, Paul Miller has long been slipping strains of Afro-futurist technology into the hip-hop marketplace. The second part of his nom de sample comes from a William Burroughs novel, a fitting tribute given Spooky's surreal interactions with sound. In recent years, Miller has been occupied with more overtly intellectual pursuits, with showcases at the Whitney Biennial and the Andy Warhol Museum. Add to this already impressive resume Sound Unbound, a wide-ranging anthology of writing about technology and music edited by Miller and featuring a piece of his own called "In Through the Out Door: Sampling and the Creative Act."
