Art: Photography Jeff Charbonneau and Eliza French: Massillon

Dreamlike, sensual, and ominous, the black-and-white photography of Jeff Charbonneau and Eliza French is like a surrealist's take on a Nathaniel Hawthorne novel. The darkly romantic prints capture a lone female (often played by French herself), typically seen only in silhouette, swallowed by a landscape or set within a gothic folk tale. The work deals in memory, myth, and the interplay between the two. The LA-based duo emerges from the darkroom for tonight's opening of their most recent show, Massillon, at Bergamot's Robert Berman Gallery.

Note:

Change America, a group exhibition featuring politically charged work by a broad selection of local artists, runs concurrently in the gallery's other Bergamot space.
