In tonight's screening, Sheffield group In the Nursery add a haunting live score to French silent film The Passion of Joan of Arc. Directed by Carl Theodor Dreyer and released in 1928, the original negative was believed to be lost in a fire until 1981, when it was allegedly discovered in the janitor's closet of a Norwegian mental institution. Joan of Arc's last hours, including her trial, imprisonment, torture, and execution, are the focus of the film; In the Nursery's dramatic music should prove a powerful accoutrement to the dramatic plot.
