The Savage Eye
Monday Nov 10, 2008 (7:30pm)
Billy Wilder Theater, Hammer Museum

A stirring faux-documentary addressing the profound loneliness of humanity, The Savage Eye offers a rare glimpse into the gambling halls, burlesque clubs, and all-day beauty parlors of '60s LA. Viewers follow Judith McGuire (aka "Mrs. Ex") as she journeys from wife to divorcée, misanthrope to believer, in a story that reminds us how easy it is to feel isolated in the city. Well, at least until, like Judith, we realize we're "all secret lovers of one another." Tonight's screening is preceded by Muscle Beach, a short by the same filmmakers. Both films are part of the Out of the Past: Film Restoration Today series, which continues through December 1.
