When it comes to '80s nostalgia, Olivia Newton-John guilty-pleasure juggernaut Xanadu has it all: leg-warmers, roller skates, blue eye shadow, men with feathered hair, love that transcends time, smoke machines galore, and a giant stage that lights up from below. The current La Jolla Playhouse live production does justice to the terminal catchiness of the original, pulling audiences in with classic camp, delivered to some via on-stage seating. Their special New Year's Eve show, meanwhile, offers the perfect exit to a year defined by (ridiculous) retro fashion.
