John Updike

As a literary critic, short story author, poet, and novelist, John Updike has consistently illuminated the lives of small-town America and would-be WASPs (Rabbit is Rich and Rabbit at Rest received Pulitzer Prizes). His short stories, literary reviews, and poetry have been featured regularly in The New Yorker for nearly 50 years, making him one of the world's most respected magazine writers as well. Tonight, the celebrated wordsmith discusses his lengthy and successful career, as well as his latest work, The Widows of Eastwick – the sequel to 1984's much-better-than-the-movie bestseller The Witches of Eastwick.
