Kerri Koch's intriguing new documentary investigates the culture of Morrissey's under-appreciated yet vibrant fan base among LA's Latino community, both queer and straight. Focusing on Morrissey's post-Smiths solo career and his late-'90s relocation to Los Angeles, the film seeks to understand why a musician of working-class Irish descent has such an influence among Chicano youth. Through interviews with fans, cover bands, and other musicians who have gleaned inspiration from Morrissey, we see the earnest passion and individuality that strikes a chord with his audience, allowing for the exploration of creative potential and the re-examination of inherited ideals.
