Essentially three concurrent solo shows, this trio of installations by LA artists shares impulses ranging from gentle mockery to intellectualized deconstruction, revealing the feet of clay at the base of the Angeleno art world. Annie Wharton's seductive, swirling kaleidoscopes of corpuscular pigments are like petri dishes for growing artificial beauty; David McDonald's cast concrete "monuments" lack all grace and pretense, except the labor of forging their own diminutive masses. Meanwhile, Jason David slathers white paint like shaving cream on the faces of the founding fathers of Western culture.
