The tenth-annual Thanks Givends benefit concert packs a warehouse with 20+ DJs and a range of art rooms. The roster is overflowing with surprise MCs, drummers, spinmeisters, and vocalists culled from the ranks of Kajmere Sound, Stones Throw, Ubiquity, Afro Funke', Transit Events, Art Don't Sleep, Beat Junkies, and a host of other local, progressive crews. In honor of the late, great DJ Dusk, half of proceeds benefit the Mar Vista Family Center, a west-side youth center promoting education and community leadership. This year, half the proceeds also go to Ma Dukes (J Dilla's moms) to aid in her own battle against Lupus, the illness that took her son's life.
