Apollo [Part 3]: Liberation (a work in progress)
Wednesday Nov 5, 2008 (7:30–10pm)
Bovard Auditorium
3551 Trousdale Parkway

Note:
The full Apollo cycle will receive its world premiere in January 2009 at the Portland Center Stage.
The Critical Mass performance group has never shied away from ambitious works. Particularly favoring pieces that gestate and morph over time, its workshop performance residencies are designed to help writer/director Nancy Keystone refine her densely layered and deftly integrated works of text, music, and movement. With an ensemble-based approach to storytelling, Keystone's theatricality is distilled from the evocative nature of her operatic stagings. Liberation, the third installment in her triptych Apollo (and still a work in progress), explores the intersection of two seemingly disconnected events: the Space Race and the Civil Rights movement.
