Chris Burden — often associated with provocative and controversial art — speaks with LACMA Director & CEO Michael Govan about his latest project, Urban Light (2000-2007). The sculptural assemblage, a collection of 202 completely restored and fully functional antique streetlamps, has established itself at the BP Grand Entrance, where LACMA's original campus and the new Broad Contemporary Art Museum meet. Burden and Govan discuss the project's origins, how it has transformed LACMA's facade, and why it's on its way to achieving landmark status.
