True to its name, the Sumi Ink Club is a drawing collective that encourages autodidacts to explore the miracles of sumi ink, a traditional Asian medium uniquely suited to a variety of idiomatic styles. The group hosts a number of regular gatherings, including ensemble shows and pop-up projects. Tonight's event at Quiksilver's LA space is the result of SIC co-founder Sarah Anderson's recent residency, which included a series of artists meetings and group studio sessions. Expect a cavalcade of black-and-white images rendered with eyeball-cramping detail.
