Berlin has always been notorious for cultivating the avant garde, but its conceptual art scene has flourished since the fall of the wall. This show examines the status of the burgeoning art capital in relation to another expanding artistic community — that of our own Los Angeles. Including drawings, collages, installations, sculpture, and video art, as well as a panel discussion with German and local artists, curator Doro Hofmann brings the two cities together to pay tribute to their cultural contributions. Provoking dialogue on the direction of contemporary art, it's a tug-of-war between the conceptual pieces of Berlin and the visceral, organic art of LA.
