Method's works don't mess with addressing sociopolitical ideology, dramaturgical devices, or storylines with dramatic arcs. No, Method slams its ideas home through pure physical force, exhaustive tests of endurance, and numbing impacts inflicted on the body. In a nod to LA's vibrant early '90s dance aesthetics — such as those of Mehmet Sander, Stephanie Gilliland's Tongue, and Jacques Heim's Diavolo — artistic director Bradley Michaud reinvorgates the era's Hyperdance style by upping the ferocity to near brutal velocity. The result is a visceral theatrical experience, in which ideas are stripped of their theoretical veneer and expressed through the high-speed flight and collision of flesh.
