Studio 528 says…

'Twas a case of poetic justice for a contemporary holiday classic: conceived by goth director (and Burbank native) Tim Burton as a long-form poem — before metamorphosing into a Disney holiday movie — 1993 stop-motion fairytale The Nightmare Before Christmas was originally deemed by the studio as "too dark" for kids. The Henry Selick-directed creepfest tells the tale of Pumpkin King Jack Skellington, a Halloween-town creature who stumbles across a whole new world: Christmas Town. At its tripped-out heart, the film is a throwback to inventive, original storytelling for all ages.
