A founding artist in the Judson Dance Theater, David Gordon has left his fingerprints all over the canon of contemporary dance, creating theater works rife with experimentalism, precision, and offbeat eccentricity. In Trying Times, Gordon and his ensemble of off-beats, the Pick Up Performance Co(S.), revisit his self-described “anti-signature” work. They've retooled the 1982 piece with the help of a handful of Cal Arts performers, blowing fresh air into it while simultaneously striking the essence of what made the work a NEA American Masterpiece.
