This year's UCLA Live International Theatre Festival has seen its ups and downs, but the final three installments promise visions of sublime theatrical grace. An Ivanov performance courts the revolutionary and radical aesthetic of Berlin's esteemed Volksbühne ensemble, replete with their trademark style of raw and unfettered confrontation. In stark aesthetic contrast, Andrew Dawson returns to UCLA Live following his lauded 2006 engagement, Absence and Presence, with US premieres of two original works. Space Panorama promises a hypnotic solo recreation of the Apollo 11 moon landing, while Quatre Mains is an intimate, wordless dance for four hands set to a collage of musical styles from Benjamin Britten to the Jazz Passengers.
