With leaked sex tapes and nude photos of celebrities comprising a billion-dollar industry, David Touster's new work couldn't be more humorous or timely. Private Pictures is a collection of intimate, anonymous photos (some original, some found) abstracted through pixelation, and then recreated in paint on canvas. The results make the audience painfully aware of its role as voyeur, as layers are peeled away to expose the raw sexuality of the original image. The question is: will the images be seen as prurient, or no more sensual than a still life?
