With the much-anticipated opening of the Broad Contemporary Art Museum on the LACMA campus, LA now has the most museum space dedicated to contemporary art of any city in North America. The Renzo Piano-designed building echoes his own iconic Pompidou Center, in its grand exterior escalator, red metal stairwells, lofty gallery spaces, and the installation of bold, outdoor sculpture. As part of the opening festivities, the public is invited to reserve free space all weekend to get up close and personal with the monumental sculptures by Richard Serra, and major works by Warhol, Koons, Damien Hirst, Robert Rauschenberg, Cindy Sherman, Jasper Johns, and John Baldessari.
