Baby Dee has been a freak-show performer (her act involved broken glass and sledgehammers), a Catholic-church organist, a tricycling accordion player, and a "bilateral hermaphrodite" at a Coney Island sideshow. It only follows that she'd find her way to music. Dee's sound hovers somewhere between ethereal torch-singing and delicate European opera — like Nellie Mackay meeting Kurt Weill in an Amsterdam café.
